This is why I love whole chickens. Pictured above is 30 cups of glorious chicken stock and a 4 cups of meat from a leftover chicken I made earlier in the week.
You didn’t think something like sloppy Joes could be amazing, did you? If you are like I am, you remember mom browning hamburger and adding a can of tomato man-stuff to the pan. The flavor was a bit flat, but it was a quick dinner on the table. These sloppy Joes are quick but have wonderful flavor, smoky and sweet but not spicy. This is a great family dinner. Just add some veggie sticks.
It amazes me how expensive laundry detergent is. What is even more amazing is how much fabric softener is. A few months ago, I started researching alternatives. It had to be something that would not fade our clothing, since we tend to wear a lot of dark colors. It had to be something that didn’t cause reactions to my husband’s sensitive skin. Finally, it had to be something that didn’t cost a small fortune. I found my solution.
One of the keys to putting good food on the table fast is to use leftovers. This recipe uses leftover French onion brisket with a few additional ingredients to make a delicious, quick beef stroganoff.
(This picture was actually taken the next day when I started to transform the leftovers)
People often as me how I find time to cook during the week. It can be a difficult task if you don’t take advantage of your schedule. Most weeknights, I have 30 minutes to an hour to get dinner on the table. On the weekends, I have more time but don’t want to be chained to the stove all day. I take both of those ideas into account when I make my French Onion Brisket. This recipe combines the best of both worlds: I get amazing slow roasted brisket on the weekend and leftovers that can be used for quick meals during the week.
